Along the way we stopped in Corbin KY, home of the Sanders Cafe the home of Kentucky Fried Chicken. We were before they opened, but an employee was in the parking lot cleaning up. We showed him the car and he opened up early to let us look around.
Tennessee had sufficient room to pull off on the shoulder for a photo. I'm sure Kentucky won't be the only state where we'll have problems.
Everywhere we go the car gathers crowds, sometime it's unwanted attention. These guys just wanted to get a look at the car.
We passed into North Carolina on route 129, also known as the "Tail of the Dragon". It's claimed to have 318 turns in 11 miles through the mountains. It was quite crowded with many motorcycles and a Mazda rally. I preferred route 60 through West Virginia, or many of the other mountain roads in the area.
South Carolina wasn't too far away, where we stopped at the Beacon Drive-in, another Diners Drive-ins and Dives location. I've noticed that many of these places seem to be known more for the quantity of food. What I saw most folks ordering was a heaping plate of fries and onion rings covering a chili burger. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the Beacon.
Next stop was Georgia where we encountered another sign on a bridge with no real place to pull over to get a picture. We did get one while we drove past.
We seems to be having difficulty finding hotel rooms, there was a baseball tournament in Lexington, KY and there is a Jehovah's Witness gathering where we stopped in Lawrenceville, GA. Hopefully we'll have more luck later on.
